What is a mission?

A mission is a cross-cutting, ambitious and transformative objective that should serve as a guide for the coordinated action of a wide range of actors (including citizens). In the Barcelona metropolitan region, it will make it possible to promote and coordinate innovative responses to challenges on this scale.

The Metropolitan Commitment 2030 has been structured through missions precisely because they emphasise action, results and multi-stakeholder collaboration. This is the approach used by the European Union, among other institutions, for its innovation policies and where it directs its funds and programmes.
