Highlights

The main aim of this project is to contribute to progress in rehabilitation, to guarantee that people with disabilities can receive personalised rehabilitation treatment with the sufficient intensity and for the necessary period of time, at a sustainable cost.

Project Leader

Josep M. Tormos Muñoz, Coordinator of Research at the Institut Guttmann

The project aims to develop platforms for the provision of rehabilitation services that enable the development of an evidence-based rehabilitation practice. The project envisages offering new solutions to improve the efficacy and sustainability of the rehabilitation process.

Efforts are made to develop the final prototypes of the project, based on smart sensory-active tissues, interactive virtual environments, inter-operable and safe virtual clinical information networks, robotic devices with advanced perception and action capacities, and technologies for the intelligent adaptation of therapies.

The project is envisaged to be complete on 31 March 2013, following the extension granted by the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology). During this period, preparations are underway for the integration of the different technology solutions that were developed, in order to address the four Rehabilita scenarios that will be presented as a result of the project and as the first step in the shift of the rehabilitation paradigm.
