The site is located to the south of Cornellà de Llobregat city centre, a large-scale project that will host sports, leisure and commercial activities.

It is seen as a new venture for Catalonia due to the innovative design of its amenities, the large number of open-air spaces, and the range of activities for every kind of public.
In 2009 the following were completed: the RCD Espanyol football stadium and the installation's road layout, the stadium being inaugurated on 2 August 2009.
Other projects were the building of the viaduct connecting the new Carretera del Mig link road and in the water supply, the construction of the retarding basin to regulate the internal urban basin. Also during 2009, work started by the Ministry of Development on the new road link between the Carretera del Mig and Cornellà.
Work planned for 2010 includes the end of urbanisation works and work on the new shopping centre, due mid-2010, and the conclusion of the new road links, due early 2011. Another project starting in 2010 is the football field at Cornellà, located north of the RCD Espanyol stadium, due for completion in mid-2011.
