The Moisès Broggi Baix Llobregat Regional Hospital, in Sant Joan Despí, will serve 350,000 inhabitants of the municipalities of Cervelló, Corbera, Cornellà, el Papiol, Esplugues de Llobregat,la Palmade Cervelló, Molins de Rei, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern and Vallirana.

It has a total built surface area of 45,725.78 m2, with an investment of 113 million euros. The hospitalisation area’s capacity is: 310 conventional beds, 18 critical and semi-critical beds, 18 recovery places, 24 major outpatient surgery places, 21 testing facilities, 40 emergency cubicles and 13 observation places; 46 day hospital places, 27 haemodialysis places and 1 hyperbaric chamber.
It is estimated that annually there will be some 19,300 discharges, the surgical area will attend to over 7,000 inpatient interventions and some 8,500 major outpatient interventions. Outpatient consultations are estimated to be total some 240,000 per year and the number of emergencies is expected to be above 82,000, also per year.
Prominent features of its construction include its orientation, its solar control systems and the way openings were dealt with, to help avoid heat loss on the northern side and favour solar gain and energy exchange on the southern side. The interior flows of the building have also been taken into account in with cross lighting and ventilation.
