Pasqual Maragall

My grandfather was born in the La Ribera neighbourhood and in one generation he moved beyond the wall, to Carrer de Trafalgar, Eixample and Sant Gervasi. If our grandparents took that gigantic leap, I am convinced that our generation will take the metropolitan leap.          

We can’t hide the reality; the metropolitan region has expanded beyond the strict boundaries of the 27 metropolitan municipalities toward the neighbouring counties, and this will require that a new model of regional governance will once again have to face the stubborn reality of the real city.
